4 Ways To Pull Yourself Out Of A Slump

You might think you are alone in the slump you currently are in and that you’ll probably never get yourself out. The truth is, you probably wouldn’t. The most successful and motivated of us have at some point in life found themselves in the same slump you are in. There are moments when you lose all your motivation and creativity and all your drive and you just want to sit at the corner of your room and sulk away your time getting you deeper and deeper into that slump.

Like I mentioned earlier, you probably wouldn’t get out of the slump if you do not make any conscious effort to drag yourself out of the “shit hole” you have found yourself. Know that getting out of this slump is in your hands and you can decide to either stay and wallow in the slump or let push yourself out.

If you have chosen to take the step and get out of the slump, here are some helpful tips for you.

Recognize you are in a slump and be willing to leave. This is the first step to getting out. Like the saying goes, “you problem is half solved when you recognize you have a problem.” This is the first step. Take a look at the mirror and tell yourself you have hit rock bottom, you are in a slump. It is a good way to start. After recognizing you are in a slump, the next step is to be sure you are willing to let yourself out of this mood. Be conscious of the fact that you want to leave the slump

Next, you take time to analyze your life. Where you were, where you are now and where you want to go. This is a good motivation. Flashing back on your past will help you;

First, appreciate where you are coming from. You will at this point see the things you have been able to achieve and put a smile on your face. This is already working the magic of getting you out of the slump.

Secondly, the flashback makes you see how exactly you got into the slump you have found yourself. You trace it back and pinpoint where the problem started. Then you can see the way forward from here

After this flashback, it is time to visualize where you want to be, where you’d rather be other than this slump. At this stage, it is ok if you write where you want to be down. Make it plain, in clear terms and simple words.

You are half way done here.

Next line of action is to personally motivate yourself. At this stage, only you can motivate yourself. You have flashed through your life and you already decided on that you want to achieve, where you want to be, no other person can know this and this is the whole basis of the motivation. However, to make it look like a conversation, stand before your mirror and give yourself a pep talk. Feel free to shout at yourself.

With the momentum you have gathered from the pep talk, dress yourself up and hit the road.
